Bethel Men Finish Sixth at Les Duke Invitational

GRINNELL, Iowa – The Bethel University men's cross country team finished sixth at the Les Duke Invitational hosted by Grinnell College. Leading the Royals was junior Tom Ritter, finishing 16th overall in a time of 26:42. This is Ritter's first time breaking the 27­minute barrier and placing him number 26th on Bethel's all­time list. Coming in behind Ritter was sophomore Connor Haugen finishing 23rd overall. Haugen had the biggest drop in time for the Royals, running a personal­best 27:00. This beats Haugen's previous best by 47 seconds. Senior Harrison Hitt was the third Royal to cross the line with a time of 27:32.

Also displaying strong performances for the Royals was a quartet of freshmen in their first collegiate 8 kilometer race. David Huffman and Marcus Danner kicked it in together both finishing in a time of 29:25. Taylor Huffman was not far behind finishing in 29:46. Rounding out that group was Nick Lowery, who ran a time of 30:08. Mixed in amongst that group was sophomore Keenan Pearson running a time of 30:03.

The Royals will compete again in two weeks at the Roy Griak Invitaitonal hosted by the University of Minnesota on September 27th.
