MIAC Release

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Bethel University's Heather Jelen (Sr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Pre-Conference Meet on Friday, February 27.

Jelen won the 800 meter run at the meet, hosted by Macalester College, in an NCAA Provisional time of 2:16.25. The time is a new indoor personal best for Jelen and was more than five seconds ahead of the second place finisher. This is Jelen's second NCAA provisional mark this season, and her time is currently 19th on the national list. She now only trails her teammate, Marie Borner, on the MIAC 800 meter list heading into the MIAC Championships.

The MIAC Championships are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. this Thursday with the pentathlon at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn.
