MINNEAPOLIS
- The Bethel University women's indoor track and field team participated in the Parent's Day Open today, hosted by the University of Minnesota at their Fieldhouse. The meet was an opportunity for Royal athletes to see how they fared against NCAA Division I and II, as well as other Division III athletes.

Former Division I runner Marie Borner (Sr., Cottage Grove, Minn.) came in second place in the mile run with a time of 4:52.14, just .64 seconds off the pace of a University of Minnesota runner. To put things in perspective and to show how much she has improved since, Borner won the D-III national championship in the mile last year with a time of 4:58.36 - a difference of more than six seconds. Needless to say, it's another school record for her, and it is also an automatic NCAA championship meet qualifying time. Heather Jelen (Sr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) also had a good run in the same event with a time of 5:02.58, which was good for seventh overall.

Huldah Omesa (So., Brooklyn Park, Minn.) finished fifth overall, but first among Division III athletes in the triple jump at 34 feet, 11.75 inches (10.66 m), just half an inch out of fourth place. She went on to finish seventh overall and second among D-III athletes in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 5 inches (5.00 m).

Vanessa Moore (Sr., Grantsburg, Wis.) cleared 5 feet, 5.25 inches in the high jump to finish fourth, and then went on to finish seventh in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.89 seconds.

Bethel's next scheduled competition is slated for next Friday for the Pre-Conference Meet, hosted by Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., beginning at 5 p.m.
