ST. PAUL, Minn. - Dan Greeno (Sr., St. Michael, Minn.) captured his first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) men's cross country championship victory on a cold, very windy afternoon at the Como Park Golf Course.

Greeno overcame traffic in the first quarter mile before taking the reigns of the 8,000-meter course and the competition before the mile mark and never looked back, winning in a time of 25:21. Greeno took the victory a full 34 seconds ahead of Hamline's Ian Bauer, who finished in second in 25:55.

The captain surged ahead, building his lead on his grit and determination, making the race his own all while adding to his lead from the onset and commanding throughout. Though, this was Greeno's first MIAC cross country championship victory, it completes four straight years finishing as an all-conference competitor.

The Bethel men finished seventh as a team in the extremely competitive conference, with an average finishing time of 27:16.

Bethel also saw solid performances from Zach Haskins (Fr., Maple Grove, Minn.) and Dennis Meints (Jr., Pine Island, Minn). Haskins continued his steady improvement during his freshman season with his third consecutive meet of running 27:30 or better while finishing second for the Royals squad. Meints finished third for the team while having a strong race from start to finish. He has also run 27:32 or better in his last three meets.

Sam Greeno (So, St. Michael, Minn.), Austin Hinrichs (Jr., Clara City, Minn.), Joel McDougall (So, Minneapolis, Minn.) and Brian Anderson (Sr., Andover, Minn.) rounded out the top seven performers on the afternoon for the Royals.

Bethel's top seven will run at the NCAA Central Regional Championships on Nov. 14, at Oakland Acres Golf Course in Grinnell, Iowa. The rest of the Royals team will run at the Fall Finale Open at Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minn., on Nov. 6.
