ST. PAUL, Minn. - For the second time in just three weeks, Bethel's
Marie Borner (Jr., Cottage Grove, Minn.)
Marie Borner.jpg" alt="" /> has been named the MIAC Athlete of the Week. This time she earned the award for finishing first among all MIAC runners, and second overall at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational last Saturday.
Borner finished runner up to Becca Jordahl of UW-River Falls for the second straight year in a very tight race at the Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota. She finished the six-kilometer course in a time of 22:02 to finish in second in a field of 497 runners. She took a slight lead over Jordahl at the four kilometer mark, but was not able to keep it, finishing just two seconds behind the UW-River Falls runner. Borner led the Royals to a seventh place finish out of 36 teams.
The Royals are scheduled to compete in the NCAA Pre-National Meet at Hanover College in Hanover, Ind., this coming Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
