Men's and Women's Hockey Unveil Facility Updates to Bethel University Arena

By Austin Lagesse - Asst. Sports Information Director

The Bethel University men's and women's hockey teams are excited to announce recent updates to Bethel University Arena at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn. The Royals have called the arena home ice since Jan. 19, 2007. The Royals men's program won their first-ever MIAC Playoff championship on home ice during the 2006-07 season while the women added a MIAC Conference championship in 2016 . Updates to the rink, which will further increase the visibility of Bethel University hockey, were recently completed thanks to the generosity of donors and supporters of Bethel hockey.

Several interior signage improvements added to Bethel University Arena include the following:

  • Signage recognizing the 2016 women's MIAC Conference champions and 2007 men's MIAC Playoff champions
  • Signage displaying retro jerseys
  • Newly branded Bethel Royals and Bethel University lettering about hallway entrance to locker rooms
  • Branded BU logo and signage in hallways leading to the locker rooms and sports medicine room

The women's hockey locker room saw upgrades to its team lounge area while a pingpong table and wooded lockers highlight the main area. Also displayed in the lockers are new uniforms for the 2019-20 season that proudly display the official colors of Bethel University athletics, Navy and Vegas Gold.

The upgrades at Bethel University Arena are a testament to the amazing support we have from our donors and alumni of Bethel University. These new additions allow us to have one of the top hockey facilities in the MIAC. Advancing the Bethel brand will help make Bethel hockey recognizable both in the community and at a national level.

New additions for the men's locker room are highlighted by a Bethel Royals center hung logo on the ceiling. Added to the entry way of the locker room is the recognizable BU logo with a cutout of the state of Minnesota serving as the background. One of the first and last things student-athletes will see is the 2007 MIAC Championship team that made the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

We are excited to enhance the home of Bethel University hockey through our latest signage updates. The people who invest in our student-athletes have helped us provide an incredible space for them to be able to compete at the highest level both athletically and academically.

Along with locker room updates, added signage was included into the sports medicine room at Bethel University Arena. This updated space will help the Bethel University athletic training staff better serve the men's and women's hockey student-athletes.
