ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Redshirt sophomore defense back Matt Jung and junior defensive back Devin Williams were named preseason All-Americans by D3football.com for the upcoming 2024 season. Jung was named to the defensive first team while Williams was one of two cornerbacks on the second team defense.
 
Jung, a third-team D3football.com All-American last year, tallied a team-leading 72 tackles with 43 of those being solo. He finished second in the nation with seven interceptions which was the most by a Royal in a single season since 2007 and ranked third on the single season record book. Jung was named All-MIAC last year as well as a First Team All-Region honoree.
 
Williams, who earned his second All-Region honor last season by D3football.com, finished the year with 43 tackles, 34 which were solo. He had a team-leading six pass breakups while adding three interceptions. He also added a pair of blocked kicks.
 
The Royals open up the 2024 season on Saturday, Sept. 14 traveling down Snelling Ave. to Northwestern. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
