NAPERVILLE, Ill.—The Royals' 4x400-meter relay of
Carl Klamm,
Isaac Erickson,
Karl Olsen and
Patrick Klamm earned All-American status Saturday afternoon, running a school record 3:17.55 to finish fourth in the finals of the NCAA indoor championship meet. The honor was the second of the day for C. Klamm, who earlier finished fifth in the open 400 meters.
"This was an incredible day for Bethel track and field," said head coach
Andrew Rock. "Bringing home five All-American awards and a new school record is the culmination of a phenomenal indoor season."
Running in the second of the two finals sections, the 4x400 team crossed the line just behind section winner Mount Union University. University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and North Central College, the top two finishers in the first section, also recorded faster times than the Royals.
In the open 400 meters, C. Klamm ran 49.17, finishing second in the first finals section despite being impeded on the race's final turn.
"I am extremely proud of this group," Rock said. "They worked hard to get here and the awards they're bringing home are well-deserved."
