ST. PAUL—A near-school record performance highlighted Saturday's Gene Glader Classic. The 4x200-meter relay squad of
Karl Olsen,
Isaac Erickson,
Shawn Monroe and
Patrick Klamm combined to win the race in a time of 1:28.96, missing the record by just .15. That time ranks the squad first in the conference by over two seconds.
Erickson continued the winning theme in the 200-meter dash, crossing the line in a personal best 22.81, seventh on Bethel's all-time list and the fifth-fastest mark in the MIAC this season. Monroe finished third in that race, running 23.14, also a personal best.
Grant Bullert jumped a personal best 21-5.25 (6.53 meters) to win the long jump.
James Moyer finished second, improving on his personal best with a mark of 20-3 (6.17m).
Dan Wahlstedt and
Evan Hatton topped the fields in the 400-meter dash and 600-meter run respectively. Wahlstedt crossed the line in 51.94 and Hatton ran 1:23.41 to win.
Andy Hartshorn finished third in the 600, his time a personal best 1:29.41.
Connor Haugen ran the second-fastest time of his career, 4:24.79, to win the mile.
Phil Anderson won the 60-meter hurdles in a season best 8.94.
Colton Syler finished third in that race, running 9.08.
Andy Barnhart led a 2-3 Bethel finish in the 1,000-meter run, finishing in a time of 2:41.72. Seguy Hanson ran 2:42.01 for third place and a personal best.
The Royals will travel to Iowa next week to compete at Grinnell College's Darren Young Classic, Saturday, Feb. 11.
