ST. PAUL, Minn.—Two record-breaking performances powered the Royals to a third-place finish on the final day of the MIAC indoor championship meet.
Carl Klamm broke not only the school record, but also the MIAC championship record, in the 600-meter run, crossing the line in a time of 1:20.19, over a full second in front of the runner-up.
The 4x200-meter relay team of
Isaac Erickson,
Karl Olsen,
Shawn Monroe and
Patrick Klamm got the stick around the track in 1:28.72, just dipping under the previous school record.
Olsen wasn't done, however. The sophomore returned to the track to capture the 200-meter dash title in a time of 22.19. P. Klamm finished sixth in that event, running 22.87. Erickson placed eighth in 22.98.
C. Klamm, the 4x200-meter relay and Olsen earned All-MIAC honors for their performances. P. Klamm's finish in the 200 meters earned him All-MIAC Honorable Mention.
Dan Wahlstedt grabbed sixth place and an All-MIAC Honorable Mention designation in the 600-meter run, running a personal best 1:22.44.
Evan Hatton, yesterday's champion in the 800-meter run, finished fifth in the 1,000 meters in a time of 2:30.78 to earn All-MIAC Honorable Mention.
Freshman
Andy Barnhart dropped nearly 15 seconds from his personal best to finish in All-MIAC Honorable Mention position in the 3,000-meter run. The freshman crossed the line in 8:48.83, good for fifth place.
Boston Knighton-Johnson,
Dylan Larson and
Tom Delich all recorded personal bests. Knighton-Johnson cleared 13-3.75 (4.06 meters) in the pole vault. Larson and Delich improved their best marks in the shot put, throwing 41-1.5 (12.53m) and 39-9.25 (12.12m), respectively.
