ST. PAUL, Minn.--Carl and
Patrick Klamm turned the 400-meter dash into a family affair, capturing the top two spots in convincing fashion on the second day of the MIAC indoor championship meet. Their performance netted 18 points for the Royals, who enter the final day of competition third place in the team standings, with 45 points.
C. Klamm used a strong second lap to run a winning time of 49.54, with Patrick not far behind in a lifetime best 49.87. Both earned All-MIAC honors. P. Klamm moved himself onto Bethel's all-time performance list, ranking fifth.
In the 800 meters,
Evan Hatton surged to the front of the field with 150 meters left, then maintained that momentum through the line to win the event in 1:54.88. That time, a nearly two-second personal best and the fourth-fastest in Bethel history, earned Hatton All-MIAC honors.
Phillip Anderson and the distance medley relay both finished fifth, earning All-MIAC Honorable Mention. Anderson ran 8.74, just outside his personal best, in the 60-meter hurdles. The DMR squad of

Kyle Swanson,
Dan Wahlstedt and
Connor Haugen ran 10:36.79, good for eighth on Bethel's all-time list.
Isaac Erickson contributed in the 400-meter dash, running 50.94 to finish sixth.
Ben Irons stepped up in the weight throw, adding over three feet onto his previous personal best to score for the first time in his career. His toss of 50-3 (15.33) meters placed him eighth.
