ST. PAUL, Minn.--A strong performance by
Annika Halverson highlighted the second day of MIAC Indoor Championship competition. Halverson took the lead in the mile early and extended it throughout the race, winning handily in 5:03.95. As a team, the Royals scored 37 points and sit in fifth place heading into the meet's final day.
With her win in the mile, Halverson earned All-MIAC honors, one of three Royals to do so on the day.
Delia Labatt ran 57.46 to finish second in the 400-meter dash. Jill Krier ran a lifetime best 7.93 to finish third in the 60-meter dash.
AddieKay Johnson,
Amanda Passaglia and the distance medley relay of
Callie Chase,
Sara Wegner,
Lydia Herath and
Amy Reimer earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention. Johnson finished fifth in the 400 meters in a personal best time of 59.72. Passaglia's season best mark of 48-1 (14.66 meters) in the weight throw finished sixth. The DMR ran 12:44.73, finishing fourth.
Nicole Balzer cracked the 2:20 barrier to score in the 800-meter run. Balzer's time of 2:19.86 finished eighth.
Corin McKinstrey and Sam Petterson ran personal bests in the 60-meter hurdles. McKinstrey ran 9.67 and Petterson, 10.28, tying her previous best mark.
The final day of competition begins tomorrow (Saturday, Feb. 25) at 10:15 a.m.
