MINNEAPOLIS—
Delia Labatt's stellar freshman season continued Saturday with a win in the 400-meter dash at the University of Minnesota's Parent's Day Open. Labatt's clocking of 56.97 ranked fourth on the Division III performance list at the time of the race, and ended the day as the fifth-fastest time in the nation.
Labatt took control of the race from the gun, dropping a massive 2.35 seconds from her previous personal best mark. The time is the second-fastest in Bethel history, and the fastest 400m on a flat 200-meter track by a full second. The mark also leads the MIAC by over a second.
AddieKay Johnson found success in the 400m as well, lowering her personal best to 59.81, a time currently ranked seventh in the conference.
Hanna Frekot, the third-best long jumper in the MIAC, won the event for the fourth week in a row with a season best mark of 17-3.25 (5.26 meters).
Sara Wegner took over two seconds off her personal best in the 600-meter run, crossing the line in 1:39.33, the sixth-fastest run in Bethel history. In the same event,
Nicole Balzer ran a season best 1:40.10. Those times sit second and third in the conference, respectively.
Hannah Steele and
Emily Dahl finished 2-3 in the unseeded section of the high jump. Steele tied her season best clearance of 4-11 (1.50m) before narrowly missing at 5-0.25 (1.54m). Dahl's clearance of 4-9.5 (1.46m) was her second-best mark of the year.
Jill Krier dipped under the eight-second barrier for the second time this season, finishing third in the 60-meter dash in 7.99. Krier's 7.98 from Feb. 4's Gene Glader Invitational ranks her seventh in the MIAC.
The Royals return to action at the MIAC championship meet, Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 23-25, at the University of St. Thomas.
