NORTHFIELD, Minn.—The Royals recorded five wins Friday night, helping to propel the squad to a second-place finish at the St. Olaf Quadrangular. Jill Krier,
Delia Labatt,
Nicole Balzer,
Annika Halverson and
Hanna Frekot all triumphed in their respective events.
Krier led the 200-meter dash from the blocks, finishing well ahead of the field in a personal best time of 26.69. That time ranks fifth in the MIAC this season and sixth on the Bethel's all-time list. Krier also placed second in the 60-meter dash in a time of 8.12.
Labatt led a Bethel sweep in the 400-meter dash, winning in a time of 59.32. Teammates
AddieKay Johnson and
Sara Wegner finished second and third, clocking 1:00.94 and 1:01.95, respectively. Those marks rank first, second and fourth in the MIAC. Labatt's time is also the 17
th-best in DIII and fourth on Bethel's all-time list.
Nicole Balzer and
Annika Halverson led wire to wire in the 800- and 1,000-meter runs, respectively. Balzer held off a late charge from a St. Olaf runner to win in a conference-leading time of 2:21.52, while Halverson pulled away from the field just over halfway through the race, winning by over a second. Her time of 3:00.87 tops the MIAC performance list.
Hanna Frekot won the jump with a mark of 17-2.75 (5.25m), the second-best mark in the conference this season.
Mara Balzer, Johnson, Wegner and
Annika Watson closed out the meet with a third-place finish in the 4x400m relay. Their time of 4:15.12 ranks them third in the MIAC.
The Royals host the Gene Glader Classic next Saturday, Feb. 4.
