ST. PAUL, MINN.—
Carl Klamm followed up a strong showing at the Drake Relays with a solid performance in the 400-meter dash, clocking a 48.74 to win the event at Hamline's Meet of the Unsaintly Saturday. That mark was a season best for the freshman.
Karl Olsen turned in an impressive run in the 200-meter dash. Olsen's time of 21.98, good for second place, was his first sub-22 second mark since 2014.
Olsen also ran the second leg of the 4x100-meter relay. That team of
Keith Vollendorf, Olsen,
Patrick Klamm and
Jon Pytlak finished second.
In the 800-meter run,
Evan Hatton ran a near-season best 1:56.28 to finish in the runner-up spot.
Phillip Anderson led a 2-3 finish in the 400 hurdles, running 58.07.
Colton Syler ran 58.30 to place third. Syler finished third in the 110-meter hurdles as well, crossing the line in 16.10.
Bryce DeBoer narrowly missed setting a new season best in the hammer throw. His mark of 167'4" (51.01 meters) was just off his current best of 167'5" (51.02m).
Pytlak leaped 22'0.75" (6.72m) to set a new personal best in the long jump. That mark placed him second. The freshman closed out his day with a 22.44 clocking in the 200, another lifetime best mark.
Anders Rasmussen dropped over six seconds off his personal best, running a time of 10:08.53 to finish third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Grant Bullert finished third in the long jump with a jump of 21'6.75" (6.57m), a new season best mark for him.
Next up for the Royals is the MIAC championship meet, Friday-Saturday, May 13-14 at St. John's University in Collegeville.
