WAVERLY, Iowa—A hamstring injury ended
Carl Klamm's hopes of advancing to the 400-meter dash final at the NCAA outdoor championship Friday afternoon.
After running a solid first 200 meters, Klamm pulled his left hamstring as he prepared to accelerate through the race's second curve. He managed to finish the race in a time of 50.22.
Despite the disappointing ending, the 2016 season was a successful one for Klamm. The freshman won an individual MIAC title (indoor 600-meter run), anchored the 4x400-meter relay to a sweep of the indoor and outdoor MIAC crowns and ran the second-fastest 400-meter dash in school history (47.87 at UW-LaCrosse).
