COLLEGEVILLE, MINN.—
Mollie Gillberg earned All-MIAC honors in the 10,000-meter run, highlighting the first day of conference championship action for the Royals. Gillberg placed second in a time of 37:43.43, holding off the third-place finisher in a thrilling sprint to the line.
Amanda Passaglia also earned All-MIAC honors courtesy of a third-place finish in the hammer throw. Passaglia produced a mark of 141'2" (43.60m)
Continuing with the theme of field event finals,
Hanna Frekot finished sixth in the long jump final with a mark of 17'5.5" (5.32m).
Katie Dillie tied for fifth place in the high jump, clearing 5'1" (1.55m). Both jumpers earned All-MIAC honorable mention honors.
Annika Halverson,
Nicole Balzer,
Amy Reimer and
Erin Alpers combined to run a time of 9:33.39 in the 4x800-meter relay, finishing second and earning All-MIAC Honorable Mention.
Halverson and Alpers used strong finishes to qualify for the finals in the 1,500- and 800-meter runs, respectively.
The 4x100-meter relay (Jill Krier,
AddieKay Johnson,
Danielle Peterson, Frekot) dominated the prelims, qualifying for the final with a time 48.89, over a second in front of the next-fastest team.
Johnson and Krier qualified for individual finals as well. Johnson won her prelim heats in the 200-and 400-meter dashes. Krier advanced to finals in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
The final day of the MIAC championships begins at 2 p.m. tomorrow.
