RESULTSST. PAUL, MINN.—A trio of strong performances from
Carl Klamm and a bit of teamwork highlighted the Royals' performance at the season-opening Hamline Invitational Sunday.
Klamm continued his strong freshman campaign, using a strong last 200 meters to top the 400-meter field in a time of 49.03. The Evanston, Ill. product also had a hand in the winning 4x100-meter relay and the runner-up 4x400-meter relay.
In the 4x100, Klamm anchored the squad to a time of 42.13.

Karl Olsen and
Patrick Klamm all turned in solid performances on the first three legs.
Keith Vollendorf, fresh off a personal best run in the 400-meter dash, led off the 4x400-meter relay team.
Brooks Hitt and
Evan Hatton provided two solid middle legs before Klamm's strong anchor carry brought the team from fourth to second. The squad crossed the line in a time of 3:23.65.
The Royals continue their season Friday, Apr. 8 at St. Thomas.
