NORTHFIELD, MINN.—
Karl Olsen's 4x400-meter relay performance ended Saturday's Carleton Relays on a high note for the Royals. Running third, Olsen dipped under 48 seconds for the carry, his 47.9 clocking the first sub-48 split for a Bethel runner this season.
Olsen also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.86. His mark of 22.66 from the Hamline Invitational currently ranks him 10th in the conference.
Evan "Mullet" Hatton, the fourth-ranked MIAC performer in the 800-meter run, crossed the line second in that event. His time was 1:57.65.
In the hammer throw,
Bryce DeBoer built on the momentum he established last week at Wheaton. The senior's mark of 166'1" (50.63 meters) was the second-best throw of his career and the third-best throw in the MIAC this year.
Contesting the long jump for the first time in his life,
Jon Pytlak leaped 21'3.25" (6.48m) to place sixth. That mark puts him in the MIAC Top 10.
Colton Syler had the best day of his college career to date, recording personal bests in both the 110- and 400-meter hurdles. His times of 15.83 (110mh) and 56.68 (400mh) placed him seventh and sixth, respectively, at the meet, and both marks rank sixth on the MIAC performance list.
The 4x400-meter relay will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, to compete in the Drake Relays, Apr. 29-30. The rest of the team will compete at Macalester's Borlstorff Twilight meet Apr. 28.
