RESULTSNORTHFIELD, MINN.-The Royals concluded the 2016 MIAC indoor championship Saturday, scoring 78.9 points to finish fourth as a team. Second place performances from
Mollie Gillberg and the 4x200-meter relay highlighted the final day of competition.
Gillberg set a personal best of 10:06.04 in the 3,000-meter run to earn All-MIAC honors.
Annika Halverson finished fourth, running her best-ever time of 10:10.70.
The All-MIAC 4x200 squad of Jill Krier,
AddieKay Johnson,
Danielle Peterson and
Hanna Frekot lowered their entry time by nearly a second and a half, finishing in a season best mark of 1:46.03.
Johnson also turned in a strong performance in the 200-meter dash, posting a personal best time of 26.39 to finish third. That race earned Johnson her second All-MIAC honor of the meet.
Erin Alpers followed up her conference title in the 800-meter run with a personal best effort in the 600 meters, finishing fourth with a time of 1:38.07.
Nicole Balzer set a personal best in that race as well, running 1:38.92 to finish eighth.
The 4x400-meter relay closed out the meet with a season best 4:08.77. Johnson, Balzer,
Abby Duevel and Alpers combined to post that time, a mark that placed them seventh.
Next up for the Royals is the NCAA national meet, Friday-Saturday, Mar. 11-12 at Grinnell College. Gillberg will be Bethel's lone representative in Iowa, contesting the 5,000-meter run.
