RESULTSST. PAUL--A strong performance by
Erin Alpers highlighted the host Royals' day at the Gene Glader Classic. The sophomore crossed the line first in the 800-meter run, running a time of 2:21.07, the sixth-fastest time in the MIAC and and a nearly two-second improvement on her 2015 opener.
Bethel's 4x200-meter relay also claimed victory. The all-freshman squad of
AddieKay Johnson,
Hanna Frekot,
Danielle Peterson and
Abby Duevel combined for a time of 1:50.44.
Junior
Katie Dillie took first place in the high jump, clearing a height of 5'0.25" (1.53 meters), and added a third-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 15'8.25" (4.78m).
Junior
Natalie Kessler and freshman
Tori Burr finished 2-3 in the mile, running times of 5:26.17 and 5:29.43, respectively.
Nicole Balzer finished second to Alpers in the 800. The junior posted a time of 2:22.42, the fastest 800-meter opener of her Bethel career.
Frekot finished second in the long jump with a mark of 17'2" (5.23m), tying her indoor personal record set last week.
Freshman
Courtney Hlavka led a 2-3 Bethel finish in the triple jump with her mark of 32'0.25" (9.76m). Fellow freshman
Hannah Hensley jumped 31'10.25" (9.72m).
The 4x400-meter relay squad of Duevel, Johnson,
McKinzie Fettig and
Lydia Herath ran 4:25.04 for second place.
Sophomore
Amanda Passaglia set a new season best mark in the weight throw, finishing second with a distance of 45'10" (13.98m).
Jillian Krier finished third in the 60-meter dash. The junior set a new season best in the prelims, then bested that mark in the final, finishing in 8.08.
Next up for the Royals is a trip to Grinnell, Iowa for Grinnell College's Darren Young Classic Saturday, Feb. 13.
