RESULTSST. PAUL-Several Royals recorded wins Friday night at Macalester's Kilt Classic, highlighting a successful last meet before next weekend's MIAC championship.
Freshman
Hanna Frekot extended her winning streak in the long jump to three meets, leaping 17'5.5" (5.32 meters), just below her season best of 17'7.5" (5.37m), which is tops in the MIAC this season.
Jillian Krier dominated the field in the 60-meter dash, in a time of 8.05. The junior is currently ranked second in the MIAC in the event.
Freshman
AddieKay Johnson recorded a massive personal best to win the 200-meter dash. Johnson ran 26.62, third-ranked in the MIAC and .83 better than her previous top mark.
Johnson, Krier, Frekot and
Danielle Peterson combined to win the 4x200-meter relay in 1:47.28, a mark that ranks them third in the conference.
Sophomore
Erin Alpers ran away from the field in the 600-meter run, winning in a personal best time of 1:38.26. Junior
Nicole Balzer finished second, her time of 1:39.75 also a personal best.
Katie Dillie led a 1-2-3 finish in the women's high jump. The senior cleared 5'1.5" (1.56m). Freshman
Courtney Hlavka and junior
Hannah Steele cleared identical heights of 4'11.5" (1.51m), with Hlavka taking the higher place on misses. The sweep was not the only positive for the Royals in the event-both Hlavka's and Steele's marks were personal bests and qualified them for the conference meet.
Hlavka led another 1-2-3 placing for Bethel in the triple jump, winning the event with a mark of 32'2.25" (9.81m). Fellow freshmen
Karin Canakes (30'8.5", 9.36m) and
Hannah Hensley (30'4.75", 9.26m) finished second and third.
Amanda Passaglia, currently ranked fourth in the MIAC in the weight throw, finished second in that event with a mark of 45'9.25" (13.95m).
The Royals take to the track next in Northfield for the MIAC championship meet at Carleton College, Thursday-Saturday, Mar. 3-5.
