Jillian Krier,
AddieKay Johnson,
Erin Alpers,
Hanna Frekot and
Courtney Hlavka came out with victories.
In the 60-meter dash, junior
Jillian Krier blasted out of the blocks, holding off the field to win in 8.14 seconds. That time ranks Krier third in the MIAC, despite her being limited in training because of IT band issues.
After last week's strong showing in the 200-meter dash, freshman
AddieKay Johnson made her debut over 400 meters, outrunning the field to win in 1:01.84. Fellow freshman
Abby Duevel finished third in the race, running 1:03.80.
Sophomore
Erin Alpers used a strong final 150 meters to cross the line first in the 600 meters, running a MIAC-leading 1:39.82.
Freshman
Hanna Frekot won the long jump with a leap of 17'2" (5.23m) and placed third in the 200 meters in 27.46. Fellow freshman
Courtney Hlavka took first in the triple jump with a mark of 32'6.5" (9.92m).
The 4x400-meter relay team of Duevel, Alpers, Johnson and
Nicole Balzer ended the meet on a high note, running 4:09.89 to finish second. That time was nearly three seconds faster that last week's mark and currently ranks second in the MIAC.
The Royals return to action when they host the Gene Gladder Classic, Saturday, Feb. 6.
