Cobbers Hand Royals 61-69 Setback in Moorhead

MOORHEAD, Minn.—The Bethel University men's basketball team suffered a 61-69 setback against Concordia College Saturday afternoon in Moorhead. The Royals (12-4, 7-4 MIAC) outscored the Cobbers (10-6, 7-4 MIAC) 16-4 in points off of turnovers, but Concordia shot 58.3 percent in the second half—leading to the eight-point difference.

The Royals started the game on a 10-3 run in the first six minutes, but the Cobbers took hold of a 13-12 lead at the 10-minute mark. From then on out, neither team led by more than five throughout the entire game until there was less that a minute left in the contest. Concordia was able to go into the locker room with a 31-28 lead and despite BU starting the second half with a 5-0 run, the Cobbers were able to protect a lead in the final 15 minutes.

The Royals shot 40.0 percent from the floor and just 26.7 percent from outside the 3-point arc. Conversely, Concordia finished the afternoon matinee with a shooting percentage of 52.0 and a 3-point mark of 36.4 percent. The Cobbers were also 13-of-15 from the foul line. Bethel grabbed 10 offensive rebounds, opposed to Concordia's four, which led to a 10-4 advantage in second-chance points.

Trevor Hall led BU with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists in 30 minutes played. Hall was 7-of-12 from the floor and 3-of-3 from downtown. The double-double was the first of Hall's prolific career. Bridgeport Tusler recorded 13 points and five steals in 30 minutes played, while Derek Magnuson added 10 points and three boards. Tim Hanson contributed nine points and four rebounds in 29 minutes off the bench.

Concordia's Brady Syverson led the Cobbers with 14 points and six rebounds.
