ST. PAUL-Bethel's male throwers began their season at the St. Thomas Opener Friday night. Senior
Bryce DeBoer led the way for the Royals, finishing second in the weight throw with a toss of 47-11.25 (14.61 meters) and fourth in the shot put with a throw of 48-10.25 (14.89m).
DeBoer was followed in the weight throw by fellow junior
Ben Irons, who threw 42-02.75 (12.87m), finishing 14th. Freshman
Wes Nelson (33-09.25/10.29m) and
Tom Delich (29-10.75/9.11m) finished 19th and 21st, respectively.
In the shot, Nelson (38-02.75/11.65m) finished 13th, Delich (36-06.75/11.14m) 16th and Irons (33-08.75) 19th.
Bethel's next meet will be an all-squad competition, again at St. Thomas, Friday, Jan. 22.
