MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Bethel University men's track and field team finished their indoor conference season on Saturday, as they completed the second and final day of the MIAC Indoor Championships.  The Royals entered the day in eighth-place and held that position throughout the competition as they ultimately accumulated 44.5 points.

"We did everything we could and had some success in areas we expected as well as some areas we maybe didn't expect, which was very exciting.  I'm proud to say, above all, they are great men of character and will continue to grow as a group as we move towards outdoors," assessed head coach Andrew Rock.

Senior and team captain Matt Berens contributed one of the best performances of the day for the Royals, taking fifth-place in the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:37.20.  In addition, the team bounced back from a disqualification in the 800-meter relay with a seventh-place finish in the 1600-meter relay, notching a time of 3:28.84.

After winning the weight throw on day one of the championships, throwing sensation Bryce DeBoer came back with a fourth-place finish in the shot put on Saturday.  Senior and team captain Cody Britt earned another five points for the Royals in the pole vault, also finishing in fourth-place with a height of 4.41 meters.

Despite an injury-filled indoor campaign, the Royals look to build on their marks as they enter the outdoor season, which will officially kick off in San Diego at the Point Loma Nazarene Invitational on March 21st.
