ResultsMOORHEAD, Minn. – The Bethel University men's track and field team began their weekend early on Friday as they competed at the 2015 MIAC Indoor Championships located on the campus of Concordia College. After a highly successful lead-up to this year's indoor finale, the Royals continued to make additional improvements this weekend.
"We had several athletes move up from where they were seeded and many others hold their positions. We are looking forward to continuing the momentum into tomorrow," said head coach
Andrew Rock.
As with the women's team, the men found success across the board, but received particularly strong performances from the short sprinters. Although injury-ridden for much of the season,
Elisha Hinton had a big day capturing third-place in the 60-meter dash with a personal record of 7.05 seconds. Freshman hurdlers
Colton Syler and
Phillip Anderson also made the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, with Syler finishing fourth overall.
The Royals also made a strong showing in the field and distance events.
Bryce DeBoer won the weight throw with a season-best distance of 17.36 meters. Junior teammate
Tom Ritter also notched a personal record in the 5000-meter run, finishing with a time of 15:54.66. Capping the day off for the Royals was the distance medley relay team, who took second-place in the event with a time of 10:38.05.
The men are currently in eighth-place with a total of 29 points but find themselves just 12 points out of the fourth spot. They will look to close the gap on Saturday as the 2015 indoor season races to a close.
