Parents Day Prepares Bethel Women for Upcoming Championships

Results

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Bethel University women's track and field team traveled to the University of Minnesota on Saturday for the Parent's Day Open and made more improvements on their way toward the conference championships in two weeks.

"I'm proud of our continued fight to be at our best at the end of the indoor season and I was really happy with our captains for leading the team this weekend," commented head coach Andrew Rock.

Leading the way for the Royals were a pair of short-sprinters in Jillian Krier and Miriam Nordquist, who each made the finals in the 60-meter dash. Krier finished fifth in the event while Nordquist took sixth with a season-best time of 8.02 seconds.

Freshman Erin Alpers also had a big day for the Royals, as she dropped three seconds off her season-best in the 600-meter run which now places her in the top-three of the conference in that event. Teammate Rebecca Wesley also had a time of 2:17.36 in the 800-meter run, which places her among the Top 5 across the conference.

Additionally, thrower Alyssa Solberg made her way into the Top 15 nationwide in the weight throw event with a distance of 16.51 meters. Senior KelliAnne O'Leary also had good day in the pole vault, while jumpers Katie Dillie and Dani Balzer completed another solid performance in the high jump event.

With just one more meet to prepare for the 2015 Indoor MIAC Championships, the Royals will be looking for another strong performance at the Kilt Classic next Friday night, which will be held at Macalester College.
