NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Bethel University women's track and field team put on another good showing at St. Olaf College on Friday night, competing in their third meet of the 2015 indoor season. Bethel student-athletes enjoyed a second consecutive Friday night meet as they are on an academic break due to the time between interim and spring semester.
While just five teams entered the meet, the Royals competed with a purpose and as a result they came away with strong team and individual results. "We saw some great improvements from many of our athletes and I was happy with the effort we gave," said head coach
Andrew Rock.
The women's mile was a particularly strong event for the Royals as
Annika Halverson won the event with a time of 5:08:00 and teammate
Halle Marr dropped eight seconds off her personal best.
Senior teammate and captain
Rebecca Wesley added to their success by winning the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19:00. The Royals also had a strong performance in the 60-meter dash, as
Jillian Krier and newcomer Miriam Nordquist took two of the top three spots—finishing with times of 8.13 and 8.22 seconds respectively.
The Royal women will now look ahead to their second home meet which will take place next Saturday in the SRC. Nearing the midway point of the indoor season, Bethel will look for continued improvement as they start to approach the conference meet in March.
