NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Bethel University men's track and field team completed a trip to St. Olaf College on Friday night, leaving with yet another school record and a strong early-season showing.
"We talked this week about giving our all with every opportunity that we are blessed with and the impact that can have on each other. I think we truly took that to heart and that was evident in the way we competed," remarked head coach
Andrew Rock.
Headlining the performances for the Royals was
Bryce DeBoer, who set his second school record in as many weeks. DeBoer won the weight throw with a distance of 16.88 meters, improving on his mark of 16.59 meters from last week's competition at St. Thomas.Â
In addition to the throws, the 200-meter dash was also a strong event for the Royals, who captured three of the top seven spots. Sophomore
Patrick Klamm won the event with a time of 23.38 second, while freshmen Jacob Harle and
Keith Vollendorf each dropped significant time to notch new personal bests. Harle also finished second in the long jump with a distance of 6.25 meters.
The Royals will now begin preparations for their second and final home meet of the season. They will be back in the SRC next Saturday for the Gene Glader Classic which will kick off at 11 am. Â
