RIVER FALLS, Wis.—Bethel University's women's track and field squad enjoyed its second outdoor meet of the 2014 season, as the team took part in the UWRF Falcon Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Royals finished fourth out of seven total opponents with a total team score of 120.5 points, which included seven first-place finishes and two runner-up finals.

"We had another solid day today," said head coach Andrew Rock. "A lot of top performers at the meet and our relays were excellent on both sides."

Rachel Kalk was one of several Royal competitors to tally a first-place finish, as Kalk took the top spot in the women's long jump. Kalk's jump of 5.16 meters (16-11.25) in the long jump edged eight other competitors. Meanwhile, Jillian Krier, Courtney Fregeau, Ashley Quick, and Ashley Magelssen finished first in the 400-meter relay with a time of 49.89 seconds.

Fregeau and Magelssen also teamed up with Nicole Balzer and Rebecca Wesley in the 4x400-meter relay to take down the five other quartets with a time of 3:58.58. Wesley's success wasn't limited to the 1600-meter relay team, but also in the 400-meter race. Welsey took second in the event with a time of 59.89 seconds.

Two other members of Bethel's field competitors also collected first place crowns. Included in the pair were Katie Dillie and Angela Substad. Dillie snagged the top spot in the high jump event with a height of 1.57 meters (5-01.75). In addition to Dillie, Angela Substad also finished first in the pole vault event with a height of 3.35 meters (10-11.75).

Two other Royals finished first overall in their respective track events, as Tessa Peterson took first in the 100-meter sprint with a time of 13.27 seconds. Moreover, Tera Hereid outlasted her competitors in the 5000-meter run. Finally, Paige Thielen took second in the 400-meter race with a time of 1:09.84.

Rock concluded, "Overall I think this was a good meet to set us up for, in my opinion, an important next 14 days of competition."

The Royals will compete at the Don Church Twilight next weekend at Wheaton, Ill., where events will take place at McCully Stadium and Lawson Field.
