ResultsRIVER FALLS, Wis.—Bethel University's men's track and field squad enjoyed its second outdoor meet of the 2014 season, as the team took part in the UWRF Falcon Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Royals finished fifth out of seven total opponents with a total team score of 75 points.
"We had another solid day today," said head coach
Andrew Rock. "A lot of top performers at the meet and our relays were excellent on both sides."
Mark Rice had an exceptional meet for Bethel, as he not only took first place in the men's 400-meter hurdles, but he also helped the men's 4x400-meter relay take second out of 11 foursomes. Rice's first place finish in the 400-meter hurdles was accomplished with a time of 55.15 seconds, which was faster than 10 other runners.
Rice, along with
Patrick Klamm,
Zach Haskins, and Matt Davis also took second in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:22.48. Klamm and Davis also teamed up with
Zach Barringer and Alex Chantara in the 4x100-meter relay to finish third with a time of 43.49 seconds.
DuVaughn Schroeder also collected a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.45 seconds. Schroeder's time surpassed 11 other sprinters. Teammates
Zach Haskins and Matt Schafer captured second and third place in the men's 800-meter dash with times of 1:57.04 and 1:57.20, respectively.
Elisha Hinton also grabbed a Top 3 finish, as Hinton took third in the men's high jump with a height of 1.88 meters (6-02.00).
Rock concluded, "Overall I think this was a good meet to set us up for, in my opinion, an important next 14 days of competition."
The Royals will compete in a pair of intense competitions next weekend, as select runners will take part in the Mt. SAC relays in Walnut, Calif., and others will travel to Wheaton, Ill., to participate in the Don Church Twilight.
