WHITEWATER, Wis.—After splitting a pair of games Friday evening, the Bethel University volleyball team came back to split two more Saturday afternoon—defeating Millikan University 3-1 (25-21, 25-19, 16-25, 25-18) and falling to No. 19-ranked UW-Whitewater 0-3 (22-25, 13-25, 13-25).

The Royals pair of hitters, Carlee Hoppe and Nicole Ackatz continued to showcase exceptional play in the first match of the day against the Big Blue. Hoppe landed 17 kills and excavated 11 digs, while recording a .234 hitting percentage. Meanwhile, Ackatz finished with 16 kills, two serving aces, and an attacking mark of .344.

Moreover, Kali Johnson led the team in digs—tallying 16 in the four-set affair. Ashlyn Hucky and Cierra Nickel shared the setting responsibilities in the 6-2 format Saturday, with Hucky totaling 26 assists and Nickel 15.

Bethel hit .303 as a team and managed 72 digs, leading to the 3-1 victory.

The second match of the day wasn't as positive, as the Royals hit just .073 as a team and lost in three quick sets. Kali Johnson unearthed 17 digs against the Warhawks and defensive specialist, Hannah Grow, mustered 13, but as a team, BU dug out just 48 UW-Whitewater attacks.

Bethel's offense struggled as well, as Hoppe finished with eight kills on 40 attempts (.050 percentage)—leading the team in kills. Hucky totaled 11 assists and freshman teammate Katie Lubben 10, but the hosting Warhawks 41 kills and 57 digs were too much for the Royals Saturday.

BU returns home to begin conference action this Wednesday night—facing Saint Mary's University at 7:30 p.m. in the Robertson Center Gym.  Neither team has played an MIAC match, as the Cardinals enter Wednesday with a 7-2 record overall.
