Coach Johnson Introduces Incoming 2013 Class

34 newcomers join Bethel football team

ARDEN HILLS, Minn.
—Head football coach Steve Johnson and his staff is excited to announce the 2013 incoming class that will arrive on campus for the upcoming season. Included in this group of newcomers are 34 student-athletes from seven different states, including 28 from the state of Minnesota.

The Royals said goodbye to 19 seniors at the conclusion of the 2012 season, where BU went to its seventh NCAA Division III Playoffs in the last 13 years. The cast of newcomers will attempt to fill several needs and provide depth at the remaining positions.

"I am so excited because this declares that they've picked us and we've picked them, which will altogether continue to shape the culture of Bethel football," said Coach Johnson. "Our expectations for the newcomers is that they will jump in to the system and give their heart and physicality away for free. College football is a whole new ball game."

Opposite of the NCAA Division I teams who can announce recruits after a letter of intent has been signed, NCAA Division III regulations permit teams from advertising incoming players until after they have been accepted to their chosen institution and paid their deposit fee.

Bethel's training camp for the 2013 season opens on August 21 and the season opener will be September 14 against Wartburg College at Royal Stadium.
