ResultsCOON RAPIDS, Minn.—Entering Monday alone in sixth place, the Bethel University women's golf team had one goal in mind: improvement. The Royals did just that, as they climbed into the Top 5 with their three-day total of 1,003 (328-337-338), which was the best three-day total in program history. Moreover, BU's fifth-place finish was also a record for highest finish at the conference tournament.
In addition to the team's success, Bethel's
Abby Perrenoud was honored to the MIAC Championships Team for being among the Top 10 scores on the weekend. Perrenoud is the first Royal to be honored to the prestigious group of elite golfers and her overall score of 244 is the best score by any Bethel golfer at the MIAC Championships. Perrenoud finished the weekend tournament with an 82 Monday, which was consistent with her 81 both Saturday and Sunday.
Just missing the cut for the All-MIAC squad by one stroke was sophomore
Erika Schwalbe, who carded 245 strokes throughout the three-day tournament. Schwalbe's 83 Monday was one stroke more than
Leah Swanson, who followed up Sunday's 88 in poor weather conditions with an 82 Monday.
Senior
Emily Gerry finished her final MIAC Championships with a 94, completing her three day total of 271, while
Hannah Williams shot a 91 Monday to finish at 274 overall.
"Our ladies have been working really hard to get to this point," said head women's golf coach
Trent Anderson. "We certainly made mistakes this weekend, but I am proud of what we've accomplished and where we're headed."
Bethel will not play until its nontraditional season begins this spring. The Royals hope to take a trip down south over spring break and could potentially play two or three matches in the area dependent upon weather conditions.
