OT Header for MIAC Leader Concordia Beats Royals 1-0

Micale Jensen made nine saves for Bethel as they nearly pulled off the upset on the road

Box Score

FARGO, N.D. – The Bethel University women's soccer team put up a valiant effort against the first place team in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) but fell 1-0 in overtime to Concordia. Just two full days after being shutout at home by Saint Ben's in a 0-7 nightmare, the Royals went on the road and gave the MIAC defending champion, and current first place Cobbers all they could handle.

Concordia scored on a header with just 1:15 remaining in the extra period to pull out the victory on a cold, rainy day. Due to the wet conditions the game was moved to Shanley High School in Fargo, North Dakota and was played at the same time as the Royals-Cobbers men's game at Concordia.

Bethel goal keeper Micale Jensen made nine saves to keep the Royals in the game as they were outshot 18-5 in the game.  The overtime loss is the third such defeat this year for the Royals and their sixth setback by one goal.

Bethel will hit the road again Saturday and head the opposite direction on the road and in the MIAC standings as they travel to Winona, Minn., to play the last place Saint Mary's University Cardinals. SMU is currently 0-12 on the year while today's loss drops the Royals to 4-9.
