ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel University women's soccer team battled to a 2-2 tie against the University of Wisconsin-Stout on a windy, Wednesday afternoon at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex. The game was originally scheduled to be played Wednesday night at UW-Stout but a field condition issue caused the game to be moved to Bethel. The Royals scored with 10 minutes left in regulation to tie it up at 2-2 and neither team was able to break the tie during the two 10 minute overtime periods.

The Blue Devils got on the scoreboard first when they scored at the 24 minute mark in the first period. The game would remain 1-0 going into the break. The Royals outshot the Blue Devils 5-3 in the first period. The second period saw Jessica Huseby (So., Medina, Minn.) score an unassisted goal to tie the game up at the 59-minute mark. UW-Stout regained the lead, however, 76 minutes in. With 10 minutes left in regulation Suzette Anderson (Jr., Lino Lakes, Minn.) was able to put one through for the Royals. She was assisted by Huseby, who recorded her fifth point in the last two games. Despite controlling the ball much of second period and in overtime and outshooting the Blue Devils 14-7 combined in the second period and two overtimes, the Royals were not able to find the game winning goal. Of the Royals 19 shots in the game 11 were on goal with the UW-Stout goalkeeper making nine saves.

Next up for the Royals is a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) matchup with the St. Mary's University Cardinals. The match will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex. St. Mary's is currently 0-2 in MIAC play and 0-6 on the season while the Royals stand at 0-1-1 in MIAC play and 2-4-2 overall.
