SALEM, Ore. - The Bethel Men's Soccer team traveled to Salem, Oregon over Labor Day weekend where they continued their season taking on Whitman College and Willamette University. Battling Whitman College on Saturday, Bethel came up empty with a 0-2 loss. Attempting to down Willamette University the following day, the Royals fell once again 0-2.
In Saturday's action,
Andreas Scott (Sr., Cedar, Minn.) led the team with 2 shots while goaltender
Leif Sundberg (Jr., Mahtomedi, Minn.) collected three saves on the afternoon. Whitman took the lead with a goal at the 34:38 maker in the first half, adding another late in the second half of play to clinch the 2-0 victory.
Still in search of their first win on the season, the Royals fell behind early the next day against Willamette, as they took a 0-1 deficit into the second half of play. Despite collecting 7 shots on goal, Bethel couldn't manage a goal as Whitman added one more late goal to win 2-0.
David Swenson (Sr., Ham Lake, Minn.) finished with 3 shots.
Bethel continues play this Thursday at Northwestern College where they will be taking on the Eagles at 3:00 p.m.
