GREENCASTLE, Ind. - She's done it again! For the second time in three years, Marie Borner (Sr., Cottage Grove, Minn.) has the distinct honor of being the national champion in the indoor mile run.

Borner all but sprinted out to an early lead and never looked back to finish with a time of 4:50.20, which was more than seven seconds better than her nearest competitor. "I started out fast because I didn't want to get boxed in, but as I got going, I never saw anyone over my shoulder and I heard Coach Timp yelling that I was 15 meters ahead of the next person," said Borner after the race. "My legs felt better today than they had all season."

Borner won the indoor mile run in 2008 to become Bethel's second NCAA national champion in school history, and followed that performance up with a championship at the 2008 national cross country meet as well as the 1500 meter run in the 2009 national outdoor track meet. Last season, her bid to repeat as national champion in the indoor mile run fell short by less than a second.

Borner is now an eight-time Division III All-American between cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field.
