GREENCASTLE, Ind. - Marie Borner (Sr., Cottage Grove, Minn.) finished first in her heat of seven runners with a time of 5:01.54 to advance to the finals at the NCAA Division III National Championship meet.

Borner earned an automatic qualifying time (adapted from oversized track) of 4:49.53 at the Iowa State Classic earlier in the season, which stood as the best time in all of Division III for the 2010 season. Her time in Friday's preliminary run was fifth-best out of the 10 qualifiers.

Borner is scheduled to race again on Saturday at 1:10 p.m. Central time.
