Borner Named USTFCCCA Central Region Women's Athlete of the Year

NEW ORLEANS - Bethel University's Marie Borner (Sr., Cottage Grove, Minn.) has been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Central Region Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year.

Borner, a middle-distance runner, enters the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships with the fastest time in the mile, a converted 4:49.53. Earlier in the season, Borner also ran the third-fastest 800 meters in Division III with a best time of 2:11.39 for an automatic qualifying time. Borner won the mile and the 1,000 meters at the MIAC Indoor Championships. She has set numerous school records, and also won the national championship in the indoor mile run in 2008.

Borner is scheduled to compete on both Friday and Saturday of the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, hosted by DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind.
