University's
Jim Timp has been named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Central Region Men's Indoor Track Head Coach of the Year.
Timp, now in his fifth year as head coach, has helped the Royals finish third at the MIAC indoor championships for the second year in a row and climb as high as 10th in the national rankings. Bethel claims three entries in the national championships, including co-top-seed
Jay Quick (Jr., Johnston, Iowa) in the high jump, as well as
Taylor Ferda (Sr., Whitefish, Mont.) in the 55 meter hurdles, and the 4 x 400 meter relay team (Ferda,
Joel Quick (Sr., Johnston, Iowa),
Zach Schlegel (Jr., Woodbury, Minn.), and
Eric Rhode (Sr., North St. Paul, Minn.).
Timp has previously earned MIAC Men's and Women's Head Coach of the Year following the 2007 indoor season.
