ARDEN HILLS, Minn.
– For the second and final time this season, the Bethel Royals hosted a track meet at the Sports and Recreation Center (SRC) this afternoon. Athletes from eight different schools were represented as well as several unattached individuals.

Once again, the Royals were led by their outstanding 4x400 meter relay team made up of Joel Quick (Sr., Johnston, Iowa), Taylor Ferda (Sr., Whitefish, Mont.), Zach Schlegel (Jr., Woodbury, Minn.), and Eric Rhode (Sr., Oakdale, Minn.). The team won the 4x4 in a time of 3:20.97 seconds, which is a new school record and also meets the NCAA provisional standard of 3:21.00.

Quick and Rhode went 1-2 in the 200 meter dash, respectively. Quick's winning time of 22.57 seconds was his personal record and only 0.09 seconds off the school record. “I felt really good,” Quick said, “I got out really fast and my training allowed me to finish strong.”

Ferda won the 55 meter hurdles for the third consecutive week with a time of 7.75 seconds, while Schlegel won the 600 yard dash with a time of 1:14.95 seconds.

Jay Quick (Jr., Johnston, Iowa) also turned in a victory in the high jump with a 6 foot 7.5 inch leap.
Next week the Royals will send some of their athletes down to Iowa State to compete in the Iowa State Classic, while the majority of the team will compete in the Meet of Hearts on Saturday at Carleton College.
