Borner Wins Mile; Royals Begin Season with Bethel Open

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel Royals opened up their season this afternoon as they hosted the Bethel Open at the Sports and Recreation Center (SRC). Individuals from four different schools were represented as well as a few unattached athletes. The Royals got off to a hot start turning in some solid performances.

Bethel's results of note include:
- Senior captain and three-time National Champion Marie Borner won the mile run with a time of 5:10.84. She was the lone Royal to win an event on the women's side.
This was the Royals first of two home meets at the SRC this season. Their final home meet, the Bethel Invitational, will be held on Saturday, February 6. Next, the Royals will travel to Menomonie, Wis., next Saturday to compete in the UW-Stout Open, which is set to begin at noon.
