Marie Borner
The Bowerman Preseason Watch List

NEW ORLEANS - Bethel University's Marie Borner (Sr., Cottage Grove, Minn.) has received an honorable mention as a preseason athlete to watch for The Bowerman award according to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Borner won the national championship in the indoor mile run as a sophomore in 2008 and finished second in the same event in 2009. She claimed the national championship in the outdoor 1500 meter run last spring. Although a former Division I runner, Borner is the only Division III athlete to receive mention on this list.

The 10 female collegiate track & field athletes named to the official preseason watch list for the 2010
awarding of The Bowerman are selected by The Bowerman Women's Watch Committee. In addition to the 10 listed in the preseason watch list, Borner and four others were listed as also receiving mention and will be considered for future official watch lists.

Bethel begins its indoor track and field season by hosting the Bethel Open on Saturday, Jan. 16, beginning at 11 a.m. in the SRC.
