Day 1 Results
NORTHFIELD, Minn. - After one day of competition at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference outdoor track and field championships, the Bethel Royals are in seventh place with 15 points. While a few events wrapped up today, many of the finals will take place on Saturday.
Dan Greeno (Jr., St. Michael, Minn.) earned an NCAA provisional time in the 10,000 meter run at 30:59.47, giving him a fourth place finish overall. The 4 x 800 meter relay team, consisting of
Carl Gladitsch (Sr., Bloomer, Wis.),
Steven Strom (Sr., Jackson, Minn.), Schlegel, and Hinrichs finished second with a time of 7:48.47, while
Steve Vedders (Jr., Foreston, Minn.) took eighth place in the pole vault by clearing 4.14 meters (13 feet, 7 inches).
Other highlights of the meet thus far include qualifying times for
Joel Quick (Jr., Johnston, Iowa) in the 100 and 200 meter dashes,
Eric Rhode (Jr., Oakdale, Minn.) in the 200 and 400 meter dashes,
Zach Schlegel (So., Woodbury, Minn.) in the 400 meter,
Dennis Meints (So., Pine Island, Minn.) in the 800 meter run, and
Tyler Hinrichs (Sr., Clara City, Minn.) in the 1500 meter run. Finally,
Taylor Ferda (Jr., Whitefish, Mont.) will advance to the finals in both the 110 meter and 400 meter hurdles,
Competition begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at Laird Stadium on the campus of Carleton College.
