ST. PAUL, Minn.
- The 13-player Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) All-Tournament Team for the 2009 MIAC Softball Playoffs has been announced today, May 4. Among the players on the list are Bethel University's Lauren Habisch (Jr., Lakeville, Minn.) and Ashley Johnsen (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn.).

Habisch was a combined 2-for-6 with a run and two RBIs off of a bases loaded double that brought the Royals within a run of tying the Hamline Pipers in the top of the seventh inning. Meanwhile, Johnsen was a combined 3-for-6 with Bethel's only RBI and one of just three hits against Gustavus. Johnsen went on to collect two hits against Hamline, including a single in the top of the sixth inning that helped lead to a run by advancing lead runner Habisch.

As a team, Bethel bowed out after two losses in the double elimination tournament. St. Thomas won the double-elimination tournament held May 1-2 at Saint Mary's University in Winona. The Tommies defeated Gustavus 4-3 in the final game to finish the playoffs 3-0 and win their sixth consecutive playoff title. With the win, St. Thomas earned the MIAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
