MONTICELLO, Minn. - Bethel's men's golf team was supposed to play 36 holes today. Mother Nature had other plans. After 18 holes, the Royals were in a three-way tie for sixth place with Gustavus Adolphus and St. Thomas at a collective 24 over par 308 at the Saint John's Spring Invitational, and that's where they would stay.
Just as there was a three-way log jam for third place, there was a 13-way tie for the eighth best score of the day. Each of Bethel's top four golfers finished in that 13-way tie with a six over par 77 on the par 71, 6,453-yard Monticello Country Club course. All-MIAC golfer
Bjorn Hanson (Sr., Long Prairie, Minn.),
Mason Swenson (Fr., Eagan, Minn.),
Tony Weber (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn.), and
Michael Yocum (Jr., Mora, Minn.) represented the field of Bethel's qualifying golfers.
The Royals hope the weather will cooperate for their last scheduled events this weekend, which is a quad-meet hosted by Augsburg at Majestic Oaks in Ham Lake, Minn., on Friday, followed by the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
