BECKER, Minn. - After a long hiatus, the Bethel women's golf team was back out on the course, participating in the St. Thomas Invitational this weekend. The Royals finished the first day of competition at the Par 72, 5,801 yard Pebble Creek Golf Club in 11th place out of 13 teams. The team stayed there for the duration of the two-day tournament despite improving by 11 strokes on Sunday.

Hannah Hunstad (Jr., Medina, Minn.) shot a team-low first round score of 86, followed closely by Paige Lemieux's (Fr., Fargo, N.D.) 87. However, Hunstad slipped by five strokes on Sunday to finish with a 177, which tied her for 37th place out of 67 golfers. Lemieux picked up her teammate by shooting an 81 on Sunday to finish with a 168, tying her for 20th place in the competition. Bree Eastlack (Sr., Rockford, Minn.) and Megan Sahlstrom (Jr., Milaca, Minn.) also improved on their day one scores with Eastlack making the biggest jump by shaving 13 strokes off of her Saturday round.

The Royals shot a collective 372 on Sunday, just one stroke off of their team low of 371 which they shot on the last day of the MIAC championships back in early October in this, their first season of intercollegiate play. Bethel's next scheduled competition is Saturday, April 25, against Macalester and Augsburg.
