ST. PAUL, Minn. - Bethel University's
Marie Borner (Sr., Cottage Grove, Minn.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for her performances on March 20-21.
Borner won both the 800 and 1500 meter races at the Point Loma Invitational while the team was in San Diego over spring break. Her time of 2:10.90 in the 800 was an NCAA automatic qualifying time and broke her own Bethel school record. Borner's 1500 time of 4:27.74 was only .22 seconds off of the time she ran to finish third at last year's NCAA National Championship Meet in Oshkosh, Wis. Borner currently ranks first in both events on the NCAA Division III national list.
The women's track team is scheduled to head to the Central Invitational on April 4, in Pella, Iowa, for its next meet.
